Germán Ibáñez is President of Ibanez Consulting LLC. The consulting practice focuses on energy: power generation, retail electricity pricing, legislative and governmental affairs pertaining to electricity, sustainability, and environmental issues in addition to risk management and auditing. Germán has a long and distinguished career developing power plants using fuels including natural gas, coal, nuclear, biomass, wind and solar for independent power producers and generation equipment companies for ENGIE, NRG Energy, Westinghouse, and Rolls-Royce among others. He is fluent in English and Spanish. Germán is registered as an energy broker in the state of Texas, broker number BR200140. Also certified as a Minority Owned Business Enterprise at City of Houston.
Over the last five years, Germán has become more politically and environmentally active on the local and national levels. Currently he is a member of Citizen’s Climate Lobby and has served a Liaison for TX-09 - Rep Al Green district and TX-07, formally Rep John Culberson. Citizen’s Climate Lobby is promoting a bill HR 763 Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act Carbon Fee and Dividend. He has lobbied for the bill in Houston and Washington, DC. He is also the Governmental Affairs Chairman for Houston Climate Movement, a coalition of environmental groups throughout the City of Houston that have banned together to help develop and implement the City of Houston’s Climate Action Plan that was released April 22, 2020.
German is currently serving on the Board of the Texas Progressive Executive Council, TPEC, a diverse political group that helps candidates get elected to local offices.

In October 2020, German was added to the Board of Directors and Finance Committee at El Centro de Corazon Federal Health Clinic in east side on Houston.

Germán holds an MBA from Thunderbird, School of Global Management and BBA from The University of Texas at Austin. He has a Sustainability Energy Certificate from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and successfully completed Certified Internal Auditor and Certified Energy Management certification exams.
Germán was born in Cartagena, Colombia. He currently resides in Houston, Texas but has lived in Arizona, California, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. He has traveled on business to Colombia, Mexico, Brazil, Venezuela, Argentina, Spain, Poland, UK, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, and United Arab Emeritus.
